older baby

Remember these cheeky moments , always.

There's something so special about this stage, those first proper giggles, sitting proudly on their own, discovering the world around them and showing more of their personality every day. They're no longer tiny newborns, but still so beautifully little, and this chapter is gone before you know it.
These sessions are about capturing them as they are right now, their smiles, expressions, little mannerisms and all those moments you never want to forget.

FAQ

When should I book?

Most of my clients tend to book their sitting session well in advance, often during or shortly after their newborn session. This means we can plan ahead and have a date secured for around 6-9 months, and don't worry, this is flexible depending on your babies development.

If you're booking an older baby session much sooner than this, don't worry! Just get in touch when your baby is approaching the sitting milestone and we can find a date that works for you.

When is the best time for the session?

The sweet spot is usually 6-9 months, when your baby is able to sit confidently and unaided, but isn't quite on the move yet. Every baby develops at their own pace, so there's no exact age.

This stage is perfect for capturing all those gorgeous smiles, giggles, expressions and curious little personalities. If your baby is sitting confidently, they're ready.

Can siblings come along?

Absolutely! We want to capture the entire family, all together! The session is around an hour long, and if you have multiple children, I'll be sure to capture them all together, and some of each of them individually too.

What do I need to bring with me?

Comforter - Your littles favourite blanket/toy to keep them content.
Slippers or cosy socks for family - you'll be much more comfortable, and comfort is key.
Snacks - It's always worth having some of your littles favourite finger foods to hand, to keep them going throughout the session. I'd gently suggest avoiding chocolate, you'll thank me later,
Your chosen outfits -ideally come wearing them and ready to go.
I provide hot and cold drinks, but if you want to bring something along for yourself that's fine, and a bottled drink for your littles.

What should baby wear?

I provide outfits in different age ranges from 6-12 months, props, and accessories during your session. I have carefully selected beautiful, natural pieces to compliment my photography style. That said, if there are any items you wish to include in your session and feel they are inkeeping with my timeless, minimal style then please bring them along!

What should parents and family wear?

Simple, neutral and timeless. Think whites, creams, beige, taupe and other warm neutral tones. For dads, please try and avoid blue jeans. It can affect the warm, soft feel of the final images. Stick to brown or beige trousers. For moms, I want you to feel comfortable first and foremost. If you want to wear something fitted that's absolutely fine but you don't need to wear anything tight or uncomfortable, feeling relaxed is far more important.
For siblings, I recommend the same, soft minimal and neutral tones. Zara, H&M and Next do really nice clothes that compliment my style.

Please bear in mind the studio is a small space, and can get quite warm when you're moving around chasing little ones, so I'd avoid too many layers.

How long is the session? What if my baby is unsettled?

Your baby sitter session will be around 1 hour. This accounts for enough time for little one to have a break or a snack if needed. Initially, babies can be quite camera shy at this age, and I'll spend a little time getting to know them first and playing with them. I have tons of tricks up my sleeve, including blowing bubbles, this works every time to get those beautiful shy smiles!

Do we need to be in the photographs?

I strongly, strongly encourage parents to be included. Your baby will have countless photographs of themselves, but this time is about capturing your family, and these will be the most treasured images you own.

You don't need to feel camera ready, loose clothing is perfect and your images focus on the connection with your baby rather than looking directly at the camera. And if you decide you don't love it, you simply don't have to choose it. But you'll never regret giving yourself the chance to be in those memories.

can you edit things out?

My aim is to get everything right in camera, this allows me to get your images to you faster, and prevents them being overly edited, here are some common things to consider:

Fake tan - If you choose to wear fake tan, please note that your skin tone will appear warmer in your final images compared to your baby and family. I would gently advise against this, my final editing style adds a depth of warmth anyway.

Tattoos - Real tattoos are beautiful, artistic and photograph beautifully. However, children's temporary tattoos should be removed fully before your session, otherwise they will be visible in your final images, we don't want to take away from that classic and pure feel of the images.

Nails - Broken acrylics or chipped nail varnish can be seen in your images. I would advise removing beforehand. It's quite common on the morning of a session for a family to not notice their child wearing chipped nail varnish in the holidays, please be mindful of this, as it will show in your final images, especially in those gorgeous close ups.

how do I pay?

It's simple, your £50 booking fee is taken off the balance of your image selections, which is payable once you receive your viewing gallery.

There's nothing worse than wanting to keep each beautiful memory to treasure forever, but I understand funds aren't always available when we want them. For this reason, I offer a payment plan. You can spread the cost interest free, and will receive your galley upon final payment.
